A puppet can represent many things and can be an excellent way to project feelings and/or actions.  The creator of the puppet is who bestows the puppet with the ability to act and bring forth feelings that may have other words been hard to project naturally.  Further the puppet can offer the ability for a person to visualize and bring forth through the puppet their thinking process and feelings.   In other words in using the puppet to express this can be a safe avenue for expression.

On Saturday, October 22nd, I attended a performance of Firebird at PuppetArt and found a performance that was combined with folklore, traditional, songs, dance, movement, imagination and most of all a storyline that could be followed by all ages.

I have taken the last couple of days to reflect on the performance and the possible avenues we can take with PuppetArt in the Art Therapy area.    I can see this project taking longer than this semester, but find PuppetArt to be a very worthwhile endeavor.

We met with Kelly and Igor about two weeks ago and discussed how we can move forward to develop a program for Beaumont Hospital and other possibilities.   I have been researching other possible sites that the puppetart can take their show too.   Tomorrow I will be attending the puppetart play and then the workshop they have for after the play.   Looking forward to seeing the actual play and then working with Kelly and Igor.   I will then have the opportunity to share some of what I have been researching and the  many possible ways to bring the puppets to different areas for a variety of patients and not just children.
